    Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (WUUL-stən-krahft, -&#;kraft;[2]née&#;Godwin; 30 August – 1 February ) was an English novelist who wrote the Gothic novelFrankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (), which is considered an early example of science fiction.[3] She also edited and promoted the works of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley.
